Changi Airport

The site of Changi Airport, one of the busiest hubs in Asia is reclaimed from the sea. The interior space is a ten-story volume, with
four functional levels arranged around a huge sky lighted atrium, the base of which is the arrival hall.
The roof concept of ‘butterfly-winged’ skylights is a spectacular and dramatic architectural statement,
flooding the interior with diffused light, regulated by sensors to control the heat load and ventilation of
the immense space. The building is a conservatory for plants.

The Airport's Master Plan envisioned the Terminal 3’s interior space as a continuation of the overall
exterior airport gardens, drive and walkways, which are visible through the wide and tall glass 'skin' of the building. The
green wall is a perfect example of how vertical planting could significantly affect overall interior
ambiance with a small footprint in plan.

TKO, Hong Kong

The Vision
A modern park in concept with traditional elements in its selective use of lush landscaping and easily identifiable as a park with many uses: Passive and active spaces – spaces for elderly, adults and children which is safe, friendly and accessible.

The Uniqueness
It is an urban park that links various components of the TKO neighborhood – offices, schools, shopping centres, the bus terminal and MTR station. Pedestrian linkages ensure that this neighborhood park is for all user and pedestrian types.

The design accommodates the elderly, the physically challenged, pregnant women and mothers with strollers. A gentle ramp ascends from the north end to the south end where a new civic plaza is located at the upper level. Not only is there a visual connection, physical interaction occur between upper and lower gardens that have been designed. The circular patterns perform different functions: some are seating areas, some are open spaces for events, and others are voids with ramps which allow movement from the midpoint of the park down to the lower level where an Art Park is to be situated. These circular patterns when seen from the high-rise residential buildings will create interesting patterns both by day and by night when they are lit up.

Banyan Tree Lijiang

For the Banyan Tree Lijiang Resort, in Yunnan Province of China, the landscape architects have achieved a remarkable expression of the ancient local culture in a contemporary use, incorporating the urban structure and spatial hierarchy, pond and waterway system, and planting types of a 16th century Chinese village as the key design elements of an outstanding resort development.

Huai Hai Lu

This mixed use development on Huai Hai Middle Road draws inspirations from Shanghai's cultural heritage. The architect has taken its design cues from the traditional identify of the Shikumen facades and tree-lined avenues of the city-from the al fresco dining experiences to the street-lined shops and public parks.

The scheme encompasses two commercial towers that lead down to a seven-story retail podium and the adjacent residential towers three and four. It features extensive glazing and has many public design features such as sunken courtyard, winter garden and landscaped podium roof terrace the Countdown square as well as a green "parkscape" along the southern edge of the site. These lead down to "Fifth Avenue" below ground that links the retail basement levels to the new MTR station. "Fifth Avenue" is the underground continuation of the fabric of Huai Hai Middle Road, adding another layer to the scheme.

The commercial towers are pre-certified US Green Building Council's LEED Gold Standard, and the entire scheme is designed to comply with the new energy savings targets in Shanghai. Tierra's landscaped roofs and extensive "parkscape" features assist in this certification and fits the entire theme of future meets past.

Singapore Supreme Court

Singapore’s Supreme Court is a major new judicial center conceived in response to the city’s rapidly growing population and the limited facilities of the old Supreme Court building, which it stands alongside. Located within the Colonial District, on the north bank of the Singapore River, the building takes its cue from the scale of the neighboring civic buildings, offering a modern re-interpretation of their colonial vernacular to convey an image of dignity, transparency and openness.

Marina Bay Financial Center

The development of Marina Bay marks the next chapter in Singapore’s ongoing commitment to a dynamic urban environment. Matching the energy of Sydney Harbor, Marina Bay is a vibrant urban room and a new focal point for the downtown district: Water is the unifying element that connects a performing arts center, retail, dining, hotels, residential buildings, and commercial facilities.

The Marina Bay Financial Center is situated on the first development site in the new district. Comprising three office buildings and two residential towers on 4.9-acres (two-hectares), the project employs a crystalline architectural language to blend dissimilar program elements into an integrated assemblage. The crystal forms, clad in heavily tinted, low-e glass with a high shading coefficient, are intended to create a strong profile on the Singapore skyline. Their faceted surfaces break up the massing of the individual buildings by reflecting sunlight in different ways. The towers are oriented to maximize views of the marina.

Shamsabad Township

An upscale villa community located 20 minutes from the Hyderabad airport. This walkable community encompasses over 90 acres of developed land, tying in a "vein of nature" allowing for the quite meandering to occur in the park-like setting. This park and walk community's goal for design was to make the roads feel more like country lanes than busy streets.
Gardens not only encompass the sprawling development but also encroach in the properties of the villas. A roof top garden also works to provide an eco-friendly sustainable feature that not only allows for beautifying but also for creating a more energy efficient home.

ION

On the corner of prestigious Orchard Blvd. and Scotts Road in the heart of the retail district of Singapore, The ION project, a joint development of CapitaLand and Sung Hung Kai, stands as a beacon. The landscape design of Orchard Turn at ground level celebrates and enhances the existing park-like conditions that have been fondly associated with the site. It is a strong attempt to retain the green in the urban environment for all to continue to enjoy.

On the 9th story Podium terrace, the landscape strategy is to create an environment of relief and distraction from the noise of the bustling city streets below. This is handled by the use of appropriate visual, aural, textural and spatial devices in the landscape.
